High attendance for East Preston and Kingston annual show

Among the attractions on offer at the Village Hall complex and Warren Recreation Ground were Littlehampton Dog Training Club’s fun dog show, Worthing Silver Band, Robbie the magician, a bouncy castle and face painting.  

Attendance was high, which the society attributed to the perfect weather. 

Show secretary Primrose Buckley said: “It was a lovely day, with gorgeous weather and a happy atmosphere.” 

The trophy winners were:- 

Patrick Sims, Hanson Challenge Cup for vegetables and fruit; RHS Banksian Medal for most prize money in vegetables, fruit and flower classes.

Amanda O’Shea, Silver Challenge Bowl for flowers; Derek Silk Photography Cup.

Eva Sargent, Children’s Cup.

Christina Goodwyn, Silver Salver for mixed produce.

Colin Crane, David Mackenzie Thorowgood Memorial Cup for sweet peas; Jenkins Cup for fuchsias; British Fuchsia Society Spoon; Howard Challenge Cup for gentleman with most points in all classes.

Fred Spanton, Beloe Cup for dahlias.

Christina Goodwyn, John Rankin Dahlia Cup.

Alison Wilkinson, Cactus Cup.

Coral Cook, Floral Vase; Behar Cup for the best table decoration.

Celia Buckley, Ladies’ Challenge Cup for female with most points in all classes.

Diana Buckley, Cookery Goblet.

Alison Wilkinson, Doris Jenkins Cup for the winner of the chutney class.

Worshipful Company of Gardeners Certificates: best fruit exhibit, Wendy Baker; best flower exhibit, Christina Goodwyn; best vegetable exhibit, Christine Fry; best floral arrangement, Eva Sargent. 

Other first prize winners were Mo Vincent, Peter Algar, Ann Smith, Eric Pidgeon, Daisy Cross, Janet Samwell, Caroline Kosa, Joan Crane, Hollie Shaw, Sue Baldock, Barbara Robb, Primrose Buckley, John Frake, Eric Norrell, John Rankin, Caroline Frake, Helen Blizzard, Sarah Hill, Donald Blizzard.
