The Fishbourne Scarecrow Trail will run from Monday (Today), October 23 to Sunday, October 29.

Jenny Hinton organised the event and said: “Originally I’d seen this event in another village and wanted to bring it to Fishbourne.

“When we were first getting it planned we wanted at least 20 scarecrows to give it the go-ahead.

“We were really pleased to see how many people got involved and we now have around 45 scarecrows out and about.

“As my kids were putting up the scarecrow, you could see people in their cars smiling and excited too.”

She also added: “A big part of my belief and the Fishbourne school’s philosophy is to ‘make the world a better place’.

“We want to raise as much money as we can, but it’s also about making a change and we’ve definitely seen a response within the community.

“The community really has come together which has been lovely to see. We’ve had local businesses also selling forms which has been a great support.”

Jenny Hinton further revealed where the money raised would be going. She said: “We’re raising the money to make the village playpark accessible for children with disabilities.

“It’s hard for those children to make use of it at the moment.”

Jo Bate who’s on the PTA for Fishbourne primary school praised the response from the community.

She said: “It’s been brilliant. Everyone’s been walking around and having a look, lots of families doing the trail, lots of dogs getting walks too! It’s been really good.

“Jenny (the organiser), has turned this around in two weeks and we’ve had a great turnout.”
