Made to measure

Worthing-based promotions company I Made This Records have been putting on gigs for local bands for three years now.

Although they have recently set their sights Brighton way, they continue to provide plenty of much-needed gigs for bands in and around Worthing.

The company was formed in 2004 by Nick Hatton, when he began putting on local bands at venues such as Beechwood Hall and the Vintners Parrot.

In August, 2006, Nick was joined by Louisa Cork, who was also organising gigs in the area.

They are currently helping with the proposed Save Worthing and Southlands Hospitals fundraiser gig and also hold regular live music nights at the Rest Bar, Bath Place, Worthing, every second, fourth and fifth Friday of each month.

The bands that have already played at these nights have spanned a wide variety of musical genres, from folk to ska, indie to metal, and while the ethos of the company is more based in the promotion of alternative music, I Made This Records have also held nights with live DJ sets of electronic-based music.

With a new website in the pipeline to help with the distribution of records by local musicians, this company is a much-needed support to a growing scene of talented and passionate bands emerging from the Worthing area.

They are keen for any more bands or artistes interested to get in touch by emailing either Nick: [email protected] or Louisa: [email protected].

The next gig they will be holding will be at the Rest Bar, Worthing, next Friday (April 27) with melodic punk rockers Life Less Frightening and Brighton-based rock band Extravagatron.
