United get the points from Arundel

WORTHING UNITED have been awarded three points after losing to Arundel when Mullets fielded ineligible player Dave Walker.

Mavericks actually lost 2-0 at home to St Francis Rangers but the awarded points took them up a place, above Chichester City United, and to two places (and three points) above the relegation spots. United trailed from the 35th minute, then conceded a penalty in the 90th minute that sealed their fate.

Below Mavericks, no team managed to win but two of the bottom three took a point. Chichester had no game while in the bottom three, Selsey drew 2-2 at home to Hailsham Town, Rye lost 40-3 at home to Redhill and Sidley at the bottom drew 2-2 at home to Oakwood.

One off the bottom of Division 2, Lancing had no game and were pleased to see Southwick's recent revival blotted with a 2-1 home defeat by Seaford Town. In their home game against rivals Broadbridge Heath coming up on Tuesday, Lancing can leapfrog Southwick out of the two relegation spots with a draw, and with a win move one place behind Heath, and only four points behind them with six games in hand - all at home.

Leaders East Grinstead won only 2-0 away to bottom team Pease Pottage Village, and with Toby Hutchinson adding their second goal only in the 90th minute.

Mile Oak took an excellent point, 1-1 away to second-placed Lingfield, to stay within striking distance of the top four.

Lowly second-division Storrington won 2-0 away to high-riding first division club Arundel in the Brighton Charity Cup first round with a Grant Grantham strike on the hour, then an own goal in the 76th minute.
