Teen triathletes tipped to turn out in town

It will take place on Sunday, September 4, and is being organised by a team haded by town resident Sarah Jouault, in conjunction with the British Triathlon Federation.

The aim is to attract 300 competitors aged between 11 and 16 and split into three age groups.

The event will comprise:

A swim of 200m at Bunn Leisure pool

A 10km cycle on a circular route around south Selsey

A 3km run around the recreation ground

At the finish, there will be refreshments and stalls for the anticipated 1,000 spectators.

Jobs are now being assigned to different volunteers by organisers but a volunteer is still needed to organise the cycling element. A total of 55 marshals will be recruited.

Funds raised will be distributed to four different charities, with onw third going to the Rocking Horse charity, a third to Chestnut Tree House hospice and the other third shared between Snak Shak and Sports Dream.

Prizes will be distributed by the Duchess of Richmond, while Wave 105 breakfast presenter and Selsey resident Steve Power will help advertise the event.

A further meeting will be held on Monday (February 28, 7pm) at Selsey Football Club.
