Sidley rocked by player exodus

SIDLEY United are reeling from a series of body blows with the new Sussex League football season just around the corner.

Captain Wayne Farrier has retired due to a persistent knee injury along with left-sided player Paul Sully who wants to spend more time with his family.

To add to Sidley's worries, player of the year Peter Baker and Russell Eldridge have both signed for Dr Martens club St Leonards.

Joint manager Glen Sully said: "It's a massive blow to lose Peter, you can't replace players like that. I wish them all the best and they would be welcomed back at any time."

Sully believes his side can still do well this season. He said: "We have got quite a few good youngsters who will hopefully come through this season."
