Sidley prepare for semi-final

SIDLEY United are gearing up for the biggest game of their season when they tackle Selsey in the RUR Charity Cup semi-final at Southwick on Tuesday February 25.

United are drifting towards mid-table obscurity in the league so the cup remains their sole chance of adding some silverware to the Gullivers trophy cabinet, although a tough looking final against Southwick or Burgess Hill awaits the winners.

The omens are good for Sidley as four weeks ago they beat the West Sussex outfit by a solitary Graham Morris penalty.

Joint manager Peter Heritage believes the league win could have a bearing on the cup clash. "It's fresh in our minds so I think it will be fresh in their minds. I thought we deservedly won. It's going to be a battle - it won't be anything different," he said.

Sidley entertain Sidlesham in the league on Saturday. Jimmy Watson is back in the squad having played a couple of reserve matches since returning from holiday.

Sidley's home match against Ringmer on Tuesday was postponed just before kick-off due to a frozen pitch.
