SALUTE TO WORK OF SANCTUARY

THE Racehorse Sanctuary and Rehoming Centre at Stonehouse Stables in Cowfold held an invitation open day earlier this month, raising £3,450 for this worthy cause.

The sanctuary is the brainchild of Graham Oldfield and Sue Collins, who are well-experienced in caring for and retraining retired racehorses, first at a base in East Sussex, and then with the creation of the Moorcroft Racehorse Welfare Centre at Slinfold.

They founded the latter when Graham was gifted with the great Moorcroft Boy, winner of many National Hunt races.

Under their guidance more than 100 ex-racehorses were successfully rehomed from that centre and they left it on a sound financial footing to found the sanctuary.

Their aim there is to give horses all the time they need to adjust and give the expertise needed to enable them all to have a sound chance of being rehomed.

They can be contacted on 01403 865929.
