Rye deny Mullets in last minute

ARUNDEL Football Club's hopes of finishing second in the County League were ended at Rye on Saturday.

Rye, who are relegated after failing to win, equalised Dave Walker's 45th-minute opener in the final minute.

They stay third ahead of East Preston, who lost 2-1 at Redhill. Phil Churchill's 70th-minute goal made it 2-1 but EP were unable to get an equaliser.

Fifth-placed Wick lost 2-1 at champions Crowborough despite taking a first-half lead through Gareth Green.

In Division 2, Rustington now need just a point from their last game of the season at home to champions East Grinstead to finish second.

Blues won 5-0 at Crawley Down, while Peacehaven blew a 4-1 lead at Storrington to lose 5-4.

Lee Gibbs netted a hat-trick for Rustington, with Andy Smart and Steve Kirkham also on target.

Littlehampton will finish eighth in Division 2 after they completed their season with a 2-1 win over Seaford. George Gaskin and Nathan Peacock struck Golds' goals.
