Return to top form delights men’s skipper

Horsham men’s first team skipper Duncan Howarth was delighted to see his side return to goal-scoring form with a fine 5-1 win over Tunbridge Wells on Saturday.

Howarth bagged a brace and further goals from Jack Dean, John Kimberley and Mark Humphreys saw Horsham comfortably take the points to further increase their lead at the top of the table.

“It was outstanding, up there with our result against Folkestone earlier in the season,” Howarth beamed.

“After a couple of unsatisfying performances recently, we knew that we needed to be on the top of our game to take three points away from a team that so far are the only ones to have beaten us this season.

“It was a performance that we had been searching for since the Christmas break, and everyone played their part. A hugely satisfying result that has increased our lead over the chasing pack.”

The victory - Horsham’s 14th from 15 league games - extended their lead at the top of the Kent/Sussex 1 table over second-placed Old Bordenians to eight points.
