Raiders suffer first defeat

WORTHING Raiders head of rugby Ian Davies wants his side to react positively at home to Hertford on Saturday after their defeat 19-18 at Barnes.

Worthing almost brought the points home from Barnes when Phil Williams' late conversion attempt only just went the wrong side of the posts but Davies said: "It would have been a tragedy for Barnes if we had kicked the conversion to win. We certainly didn't deserve to.

"We didn't play well and Barnes played some good stuff and put a lot of pace into the game. We just weren't at the races, which was very disappointing.

"We've got to react positively against Hertford on Saturday and play 100 per cent better than against Barnes. There will be a few changes."
