Mogaka retains half marathon title
Mild sunshine provided ideal conditions at the start, but the wind strengthened and the temperature dropped markedly at the race wore on.
The change in conditions didn't seem to deter Fred Mogaka, though, because the Kenyan notched his second consecutive Hastings triumph and the 2,000 first prize in 64 minutes 10 seconds. Tanzanian Malack Olemengera was a close second on his Hastings debut, while Huw Lobb's third place was enough to secure the AAA of England title and with it 1,000. Daniel Anderson was the first local runner.
