Junior players at Hurstpierpoint tennis club have been given the opportunity to enjoy a special camp experience of their own courtesy of Turner Tennis Academy.

The camp, which was founded by Nick Turner, has been running for many years and continues to be a huge success. This year, it enjoyed its biggest turnout thus far with 94 junior players from age 5 to 14 attending the four August sessions.

Vicky is a mother of two and she is also a lifelong tennis player.

“I appreciate the group spirit and overall positive impact the sport has had on my children. It is a sport I love for its health benefits, its ability to challenge them both physically and mentally and for the opportunity it presents to participate at any level,” she said.

The Summer Camp features group tennis instruction, fitness training, team games and activities followed by snack/ lunch time.

The cost of camp is kept to a “bare minimum” of £75 per child for 5 days, said Nick, who added, “We will not turn away any player and try to encourage maximum participation from the community and surrounding schools.”

None of this would be possible, however, without the support of Caryn and James.

“One of the areas the club is focusing on is improving the already successful junior section, attracting more girls to the sport and introducing increased match practice. The addition of floodlights in 2015 will help with these priorities” said Toby Lott, Club Chairman.
