Heritage looking to close gap

SIDLEY United are looking to close the gap on Sussex County rivals Burgess Hill when they travel to Redhill on Saturday November 3.

Despite losing to the Division One leaders in midweek, joint manager Peter Heritage believes his side are starting to reach the form that saw them win the double last season.

He said: "We outplayed Burgess Hill but lost to a disputed last minute goal.

"Redhill is going to be a tough game but if we take the form from the weekend and midweek games then we ll have no problem."

Russell Eldridge (groin strain) could be out and United are looking for a striker to replace Dave Carey when he begins a five-week suspension on November 10 following a Sunday parks red card.

Bexhill Town entertain Crowborough Athletic in the Sussex Third Division for what is likely to be caretaker manager Mark Simpson s last game in charge.

Town are set to make a new appointment next week as Simpson is unable to take the job full time due to work commitments.

Simpson has certainly delivered on his promise to leave Town in a better position than before he took over.

After eight games without a victory Simpson helped the Green Machine to two away victories and dragged them off the bottom of the table.

He has also seen his team put in excellent performances against high flyers Steyning Town and Haywards Heath Town.

Rob Warner is set to return for the Crowborough game.
