He began with a one-under-par 71 on Thursday in which he carded four birdies, one bogey and a double bogey on the par three 17th. Evans followed that with a two-under 70 in round two, finishing with back-to-back birdies after two earlier gains had been cancelled out by another double bogey.

Although he bogeyed the first in round three, Evans hit back with five birdies and no dropped shots thereafter for a four-under 68 which moved him up to tied sixth.

Evans, of Rye and Sedlescombe Golf Clubs, maintained his consistency with a three-under final round 69 containing four birdies and a solitary bogey.

The two results in France and Kazakhstan have moved Evans from outside the top 100 on the Challenge Tour Rankings up to 42nd. The top 45 after the next four events qualify for the season-ending Challenge Tour Grand Final in Dubai.
