Fred lands massive perch

FRED Healey, the Uckfield specimen hunter, creeps closer to the 5lb mark with his catches of massive perch.

Fishing a lake in West Sussex with lobworms he caught two perch over 4lb that included a personal best 4lb 13oz 8dr, his other fish weighed 4lb 4oz.

For a short while the rivers were in perfect condition for pike fishing and reports of captures are starting to emerge.

On the Sussex Ouse, just below the weir at Barcombe Mills, Terry Weston from Lewes caught two pike 24lb 8oz and 18lb 8oz while plug fishing.

Phil Bailey a member of the Hastings, Bexhill and District Freshwater Angling Association fished at the Hexden Channel and tributary of the River Rother with a herring head to catch a pike 20lb 4oz.

here were also plenty of other pike taken from the main river including a number into double figures.
