Rye United are due to visit East Grinstead Town in Division One (kick-off 7.30pm), while Westfield are away to Division Two leaders Eastbourne United AFC (kick-off 7.45pm).

According to the club’s Twitter feed, if Rye fail to find the net tonight it will be their longest scoring drought since 1980. Rye have currently gone 315 minutes without a goal, but haven’t lost a league fixture during that period.

Their last two games have ended in goalless draws away to Horsham YMCA and at home to Lancing, and before that they were edged out 1-0 away to Eastbourne Town in the Parafix Sussex Senior Challenge Cup.

Although Rye are fifth-from-bottom of the table, they are closer in terms of points to the top half than the three relegation places and only one team in the division has played fewer matches.

Westfield will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to six matches against an Eastbourne side which is six points clear at the top of the table having lost only one of its 21 league games.

Westfield made it 13 points from a possible 15 with a 1-0 win at Rustington on Saturday in their first outing for seven weeks. They may well be hoping that Eastbourne have one eye on their FA Vase quarter-final against Ampthill Town in four days’ time.
