The Sussex County Football League Division One clash was called-off this afternoon because of a waterlogged pitch, adding to Rye’s lengthy list of cancellations over the past two-and-a-half months.

Rye still have 17 league fixtures and at least one cup tie to play before the season’s scheduled finish on Saturday April 26, but the league is seeking an extension from the FA to help ease the pile-up.

Although Rye will be left kicking their heels yet again, Westfield will be playing for only the second time since mid-January as they travel to Sussex Division Two leaders Eastbourne United AFC. Kick-off at The Oval is 7.45pm.

Westfield will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run to six matches against an Eastbourne side which is six points clear at the top of the table having lost only one of its 21 league games to date. Westfield made it 13 points from a possible 15 with a 1-0 win at Rustington on Saturday.
