The new announcement came from Sam Ashton, who chairs the ladies' club, who said: "It is with great pleasure and immense pride that I can officially announce our new name! We will be called Chichester and Selsey Ladies and Youth Football Club as of today.

"We are looking forward to continue to provide football at a high level with the first team remaining in the FA Women's Premier League Southern Premier Division (tier three) and the development squad continuing in the FA Women's Reserves South Division.

"Our youth continues to thrive as we have an U16s team, two U14s, U12s, Wildcats and our new U16s inclusive disability team. Contact us for more information on any of these teams.

"We as a club are excited, highly focused, passionate, driven and determined to continue to grow the game in our local area and our one club feel is stronger than ever.

Once again a huge thank you to all of you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at games soon!"

The formation of the new women's team by Chichester City caused Chi City Ladies - as they were still known then - to clarify their position in the light of what they felt was confusion reigning.
