Russ Hardwell had a one-on-one and both Scott Tipper and Lewis Jenkins had chances, before the hosts took a 19th-minute lead through Patrick Rose. Mullets thought Rose had handled in the build-up and then stopped playing before he netted.

Arundel did not come out of the blocks in the second period and Rangers doubled their lead through Charlie Pitcher on 59 minutes.

The hosts then added two more goals in the final seven minutes through Thomas Barnes and Jamie Weston.

Mullets joint manager Craig Stuart said: “We played very well in the first half and had three unbelievable opportunities.

“They then got a controversial first goal as their lad handballed it but we just stopped playing and he scored.

“We just didn’t come out of the blocks in the second half and they wanted it more, which was disappointing. A few players have got to look at themselves and we need to show a bit more desire.”
