Jones’ high hopes for Westfield young guns

Duncan Jones believes many of Westfield Football Club’s young players will go on to play Ryman League football.

Westfield are currently second in Division Two of the Sussex County League, but joint manager Jones reckons members of his squad will eventually ply their trade at least two levels higher up the non-league pyramid.

He said: “I’m sure we’ll have a dip in form, but as a group, because they want to learn, this side is going to continue to get better. We wanted to restructure the club (in the summer) and it’s starting to click.

“I think we’ve got a team together that’s a county one squad and we’re talking about moving them on to Ryman League football, they will be good enough to move on to that level.”

Last weekend’s single goal success at home to Southwick was Westfield’s fourth consecutive league victory and they are unbeaten in six league outings.
