UNDER-18

Pagham 3 Chichester City 2

Pagham were the quickest out the blocks against a strong Chichester side, with whom they were level on points at the start of the day,

The Lions took the lead on 14 minutes when Josh Irish arrived at the far post to slot home after a fine run by Joe Kilhams.

Although Pagham had more of the chances, the Chichester offside trap frustrated the home side on more than one ocasion.

The second half was only minutes old when Chichester scored after poor defending.

The goal of the game came on 75 minutes when Sam Connolly took the ball in his stride to volley home.

In the 80th minute, Kilhams found time and space from a fine Danny Greenslade run to fire home number three for the home side. This once more inspired Chichester to push forward and they scored their second to reduce the scoreline.

But Pagham closed the game down to extend their lead at the top of the table and continue their unbeaten run.

UNDER-16

Worthing Rebels Youth 2 Predators Youth 6

Predators started with ten men but were soon into their stride passing with fluency.

Captain Dom Humphries dominated midfield, driving the team forward to force a series of corners – and from one of these Josh Simmonds opened the scoring, volleying home from a tight angle.

Worthing equalised with a speculative long shot that bobbled past the keeper. But Predators finished the first half strongly when Josh Simmonds restored the lead with a stunning drive from outside the area which went in off the post.

In the second half, Predators continued to enjoy greater possession. Jacob Carroll picked up a loose ball near the corner flag, cut in, beating two players, before firing home into the bottom corner.

Alex Burford volleyed home one corner before adding his second as he again eluded his marker to head home another corner. As Predators relaxed, Worthing hit back with a well-taken goal.

In the final minutes Chris Brayfield set up Jacob Carroll to complete the scoring.

UNDER-11

Barnham Trojans Blue have won their third A divison title in a row.

With a season’s record of 13 wins from 13 league games played, with 64 goals scored and only four goals conceded, Barnham Trojans Blue U11’s have secured the Arun and Chichester under-11 title with three games of the season left after a 2-0 victory over Worthing Dynamos.

The team also won the A division under-nine and under-ten titles.

The team have had an outstanding 2014-15 season, also qualifying for the Arun & Chichester cup final which will be played on March 22.

The success comes despite the transition from seven to nine players and the introduction of the offside rule at under-11 level.

Staying unbeaten so far all season has been just reward for the team who play a fantastic standard of football and whose teamwork and friendship has made them so successful this year.

Manager Duncan Terry plays a strict policy of player rotation and all the boys benefit from a lot of match time throughout the season which gives a depth, quality and match readiness of players available every Sunday.

Terry was assisted by right-hand man Ernesto Andrade-Paris.

Selsey Seals 2 Lancing Rangers 1

Selsey continued their chase for promotion in C division with their second win in two weeks against a tough Lancing side.

Lancing had the bit between their teeth, trying to unsettle the Seals’ fluid football with a physical game.

Five minutes before the break uncharacteristic slack marking left the Lancing striker on his own in the box and he gave Jones in goal no chance.

Seals missed a hatful of chances with Ayling blazing a volley over from ten yards after good work from Kidwell and Hains.

The second half followed the same pattern, with the Seals pressing but nothing falling for them in the final third.

Weaver, Darby-Ryan and Thomkins marshalled the defensive line ensuring very little got through. Anything that did was dealt with by Jones.

Grocott, Ayling Drain, Kidwell, Hains, Devlin and Montague all worked for the team with Lennox working the channels well.

With ten minutes to go Selsey finally got the breakthrough they deserved after excellent work by Montague, Grocott and Lennox saw the ball fall loose in the box for Hains to dispatch it into the bottom corner.

Selsey sensed the victory and with just two minutes remaining, a through-ball to the pacy Hains gave him a one-on-one with the goalkeeper which he calmly converted.

Chi City Colts 1 Worthing Town Red 1

Against leaders Worthing, the Colts started with confidence and had plenty of possession in the first 20 minutes.

Good runs up the wings by Harry Angell and Max Hopp failed to find a way through, while Louis Godfrey and Teddy Phillippo worked tirelessly in midfield.

Late in the first half, against the run of play, Worthing squeezed the ball into the net in a goal-line scramble. Solid defensive play by Hugo James and Ben Roberts kept the scoreline at 1-0.

The Colts came back fighting in the second half and George Purvis made a great run down the left, chipping the ball into the net to equalise with his first goal this season.

Sharp goalkeeping by Josh McCulloch preseved the draw for Colts.
