Bacon scored bags of goals for Haywards Heath Town reserves last year and will now see if he can cut it at senior football.

Wickwar said: “Mark and I are happy with pre-season Mark’s been working hard on the playing front in relation to signings. We are very happy to have signed Ben Bacon from Haywards Heath.

“Ben will add pace and a directness that we have missed. Harry Mills will give us another good defender who can play. Lewis Westlake is a good young player a good passer that can add to midfield.”

The pair are particularly delighted that every player from last season has returned. Wickwar said: “It’s a real bonus. Nathan Miles is fully committed after launching his new gym wear range which is great news.

“We have worked hard in pre season not just on fitness but our shape with and without the ball and we are getting there.”

The Robins kick off their season with a trip to Wick. Wickwar said: “It will be tough we have three away on holiday (and me) who probably would have started but all teams are in the same boat. “Its a big season for us. We got out of a relegation battle had a steady season last year now we need to try and push on.”
