FOOTBALL: Suter joins Littlehampton as joint manager

JOHN SUTER has joined Gary Young as joint manager of County League Division 2 side Littlehampton Football Club.

Young is delighted to have Suter, who left Worthing United at the end of last season, on board. He has previously managed at Wick, Selsey, Storrington, Horsham YMCA, Hassocks and the Sussex FA, and Young said: "I've known John a long time and this should work very well.

"We'll use his experience and it will help the club, with me still being player-manager. We've brought John in for his experience, knowledge and playing contacts.

"I've played under him for the Sussex representative side many times and we both have the same philosophy to get the ball down, and pass and move.

"It should be a good partnership and we've got good plans. Next year, we just want to consolidate after our poor finish to last season.

"We want to rebuild Littlehampton and get ourselves in the top six."

Suter said: "I'm really looking forward to it, and we'll just look to do better than Littlehampton did last season.

"Littlehampton is such a big club, when you think about the FA Vase semi-finals, and the FA Cup first round.

"I was born there, too, and played for them in the late 1950s, so I'm going back there now.

"I first met Gary when he was 17, when I picked him for the County League Reserves representative side, and our paths have crossed many times over the years since, and we get on very well."
