FOOTBALL: EP ready for FA Cup clash at Conference South leaders Dover

EAST PRESTON are hoping to be the giant-killers this weekend as they take on Conference South leaders Dover Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday.

EP kept their heroic campaign alive last Tuesday, overcoming Guildford City on penalties, to set up the clash at Dover.

EP boss Trevor Waller said: "I have never known anyone at the club to look forward to a match as much as this.

"We have a coach and a few cars going up, so we'll have maybe 70, 80 or 100 fans coming up to support.

"But we're all looking forward to playing in front of a crowd of up to 1,200 people.

"Obviously, they're a tasty side, and we're the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, playing the highest.

"But we'll go into it playing our normal style of football. We have a lot of pace up top so there is always a chance of us scoring, it's about us trying to keep it tight.

"We will be going to give them a decent show. I was listening to some of the video interviews on their website and they sound a little nervous. After all, it would be a huge embarrassment for them to lose to us.

"The pressure is all on them, so who knows what can happen?"

EP went down 2-0 at high-flying Rye in the Sussex RUR Cup on Saturday.

Terry Dodd had an effort ruled out, and John Meaney slipped when one-on-one. Kevin Budge then fired wide, but goals from Sam Cole and Danny Ellis proved enough for United to progress.

Waller had mixed feelings about the defeat. He said: "It was an even match. The performance was disappointing. We had five first-team regulars unavailable for one reason or another and the lads that came in did very well.

"It was a tight game, the difference was that they took their chances and we didn't."

EAST PRESTON: Williamson; N Da Costa, M Dodd, Windsor, Nicholson; Riley, Burgess, Campbell, Paine; Budge, Meaney. Subs: T. Dodd, Darwin (Budge, Campbell 60), Holman (Windsor 70), Kason.
