Date in place for challenge match

A DATE has been arranged for the first leg of the Bexhill derby spectacular.

Bexhill United chairman Dave Harris, who has promised to donate 1,000 to charity in the event of a Sidley United win, said that the long-awaited clash will take place at Gullivers on Wednesday April 16 subject to approval from the Sussex FA.

Kick-off is likely to be at 7.30pm with admission 5 for adults and 2.50 for children and OAPs. The contest is to be named the Bexhill Observer Charity Shield.

He also hopes to deliver a feast of pre-match fun including a penalty shoot-out, a clown, a fireworks display (which will also take place after every goal) and the cascade of blue and white balloons as the players run out to Emerson, Lake and Palmer's rock anthem "Fanfare for the Common Man".

An excited Harris said: "It's going to be a tremendous night. The presentation of the players on the pitch is going to be the best ever."

Anyone interested in sponsoring the match ball and the opportunity to be photographed at the presentation of the trophy for whoever provides the largest contribution in excess of 200 should contact Harris on 713593 or 212099.
