Sidley clinch long overdue win

SIDLEY finally celebrated their first win of the season in Sussex Cricket Division Two with a three-wicket defeat of Glynde & Beddingham.

The success came at the 13th time of asking after the previous dozen fixtures had resulted in three draws, five defeats and four abandonments.

After opting to take first knock Glynde amassed 236-6 thanks to Darren Howard (57 not out), Chris Stanyard (38) and Chris Baker (33).

The wickets were shared between Neil Priddy (3-27), John Haffenden (2-52) and Paul Swannell (1-49 off 17 overs).

An opening stand of 66 between Sam Steele (44) and Paul Thompson (32) set Sidley on the right path before Priddy (36), Haffenden (43), Paul Nice (22), Scott Woodroffe (19 not out) and Craig Ramsden (19) saw them to 238-7.

Despite the win, Sidley sit 38 points adrift at the foot of the table.
