Cricket round-up

LITTLEHAMPTON Cricket Club returned to winning ways with a seven-wicket win against Stirlands on Saturday.

After a double defeat the previous weekend, Indian Amit Gupta saw Littlehampton home with an unbeaten 57 from 82 balls, with three fours and a six. He shared an 80-run fourth-wicket stand with captain Benn Challen, who hit 56.

Earlier, Stirlands were restricted to 170-9 from their 53 overs. Matt Parnell finished with 3-22 after taking two early Stirlands wickets.

Arundel's unbeaten start in Invitation League Division 2 came to an end with a nine-run loss at Pagham.

Pagham's outstanding Australian, Matthew Gregory, smashed 144 not out in his side's 249-3.

Jamie Scardifield then hit 78 and Paul Boarer a half-century as Arundel were bowled out for 240.

In Division 3, Clymping were dismissed for just 110 at Southwick, who won by two wickets.

Karl Pierce struck 50 of Clymping's total then took four wickets.

In the same division, East Preston won by 94 runs at top-of-the-table Portslade.

Colin Smith and captain Simon Locke both hit half-centuries in EP's 257-8.

Portslade were then bowled out for 163 with Locke taking four wickets and Pete Dallimore and Dan Williams two each.
