Jessica Breach (under-20) enjoyed a good day. In the long jump she put together a consistent series of leaps, which saw her sail out to a great new personal best 5.37m to win the gold medal.

She followed that with some fine sprinting – winning her heat of the 60m, and in doing joining the sub-eight second when she stopped the clock in a new PB of 7.91sec.

Breach repeated it again in the final, finishing a close second with 7.93sec to take the silver medal.

First-year under-13 Fleur Hollyer gained valuable experience when she made her indoor athletics debut at the championships.

Her long jump on this occasion wasn’t quite near her best – but her sprinting certainly was.

Looking sharp and with a good start in the 60m, she came second in her heat, recording a great new personal best time of 9.36sec.
