Worthing phone thief rumbled by ringer

A THIEF was rumbled after the mobile phone he was stealing rang in his pocket.

Police were called to Ambrose Place in Worthing town centre just before 3.30pm on Thursday, November 5, after occupants of one of the flats confronted a man they believed had stolen a mobile phone.

On calling the missing phone, the thief's pocket lit up and he quickly handed the stolen item back.

After he left the property, the people realised a wallet had been stolen.

The man is described as a white 6ft tall man who is in his 30s and has short dark hair.

He has a scar on his right cheek and at the time was wearing a black jacket and a silver top with jeans.

He escaped and headed towards Worthing Railway Station.
