Woodland blooms in Turkey Road

BEXHILL bloomed at the weekend, and nowhere more than one Turkey Road garden.

Sandy Melvin, chair of the town's horticultural In Bloom competition, said she "could not have asked for better weather" on Saturday.

She added: "I have a lovely wild, woodland garden with natural habitat and I enjoy sharing it with others."

A steady stream of visitors enjoyed ploughman's lunches or cream teas (though some managed both), and Town Mayor Cllr Bridget George gave one of her last opening speeches before handing over the baton on Tuesday.

A total of 133 was raised through entry tickets, a raffle and stalls, all of which contributes to the running of Bexhill in Bloom.

"Thank you to all those who attended," said Sandy.

"But also a very big thank you to the team of helpers taking entrance fee, selling raffle tickets, and in the kitchen washing up and keeping the teas flowing."

Bexhill in Bloom will support Green Day in Egerton Park on Saturday, July 3.
