Woman accused of care home theft

A woman alleged to have stolen more than £17,000 from an elderly resident at a Bognor Regis care home has appeared in court.

Elizabeth Whitelock, 46, is charged with four theft offences between 2006 and 2007.

Mrs Whitelock, of Victoria Drive, appeared at Chichester Magistrates' Court on Monday.

She pleaded not guilty to stealing 6,410 from a 77-year-old resident at Aldwick Care Home between February 24 and May 25 2006.

She entered no plea to the offence of 950 theft from the same resident between June 9 and 25, 2006.

Mrs Whitelock pleaded not guilty to stealing 3,264 from the elderly resident between July 8 and December 29, 2006, and not guilty to stealing 6,452 from the same resident between January and November, 2007.

Magistrates adjourned the case until July 20 at Chichester Magistrates' Court, where Mrs Whitelock will be given a date for trial at Chichester Crown Court.
