Widow's Tribute to Crash Victim

THE wife of a Bexhill man killed in a car accident has paid tribute to her 'loving' husband.

Anthony Marfleet, 44 , died when his Toyota Hiace van was in collision with an Audi A4 on Powdermill Lane, Catsfield, last Wednesday.

His van is said to have then ricocheted into an oncoming Ford Iveco van near to the junction with Telham Lane.

After firecrews took almost an hour to cut him free of the wreckage Mr Marfleet was airlifted to hospital where he died from his injuries.

His wife, Zoe Marfleet of Park Lane, said this week: "He was the love of my life.

"I loved him to bits and he was a lovely man. A very loving man."

Mr Marfleet was driving to a job in his work as a builder when the accident happened.

Although born near Stockport, Mr Marfleet grew up in Hastings after his parents moved to the town.

His many interests included dancing, clay pigeon shooting, paragliding and hang gliding.

Mr Marfleet was also part of the team that helped to build Filsham Valley School, in St Leonards.

The couple were married at the Manor Gardens, Bexhill.

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the crash involving Mr Marfleet which happened at around 8.20am on August 1. Anyone with information can call Sussex police on 0845 60 70 999.
