Village Fête: This Saturday, August 29th, we have our traditional Village Fête taking place in its usual venue, the paddock behind the Village Hall Car Park. Despite the rain which is expected this week until Thursday, it looks as if the weather will be fine for Saturday, so come along from 1.30 pm and enjoy the fun and the many good things to buy!

Entry is free, there is plenty of parking, and there will be lots of attractions for all ages. Among the new features will be a genuine gypsy caravan, complete with a mystery fortune teller! and a demonstration of spinning wool on a real spinning wheel. There will be plenty of stalls for children, such as hoopla, Splat the Rat, china smashing (great for adults too, if you are suffering from a little end-of-holidays stress!), Find the Buried Treasure (on a map), Find the Key to the Cabinet (containing special prizes), tractor rides and several games to play. On sale, amongst other things, will be a feast of savoury items: flans, quiches, cheese scones, pizzas and lots more; books and CDs; plants and local produce; bric-à-brac and gifts; and home-made cakes at the tea stall. Weather permitting, there will also be pony rides. For refreshments there will be lots on offer: a barbecue, beer tent, wine and soft drinks, choc-ices, and delicious teas and cakes will be provided as usual by Valerie Bishop and her team from St Mary Magdalene.
