Scores of volunteers have worked together to ensure this year’s event once again goes off with a bang.

John Lederer, of the Ewhurst and Staplecross Bonfire Society, said: “The build up to this fantastic evening involves much organisation and there are a thousand and one jobs to do, for example, risk assessments planned, road closures need to be arranged, fencing and lighting need to be erected as do marquees.

“Marshalling the event is a very important part of the evening to ensure that everyone can enjoy themselves safely.”

The society is always on the lookout for more members or volunteers to help at various fundraising events throughout the year.
