This was the tenth Wings and Wheels at the historic site and the organisers pulled out the stops to entertain the massed crowds.

The main event was a fly-past by the last two remaining airworthy Lancaster bombers, one of which was brought over from Canada by the country’s Warplane Heritage Museum.

On Saturday the Tigers Freefall Team, once they had landed, were presented to special guest comic actor Bernard Cribbins who has appeared in numerous major franchises, including Carry On... films and Dr Who. He served with the paratroopers during his National Service.

The impressive Vulcan bomber proved as popular as ever while the many fans of the Red Arrows had just one performance this year, on Sunday.

After last year’s success with the ‘Little Red Arrows’ model aircraft, they returned and were joined by other mini versions of airplanes.

For the Wheels part of the programme, there were numerous cars and motorbikes on show and eager to try out a lap or two of the Dunsfold track.

The Military Zone has grown enormously over the hears and there were dozens of Jeeps and other vehicles. Several military re-enactment groups had set up camp with guns and uniforms.

Wings and Wheels has helped several charities over the years and 2014 was no exception with Help for Heroes and Brooklands Museum the main beneficiaries.
