Used needles found in Rustington playground

USED needles have been found dumped in Rustington play areas and gardens.

A batch of around 12 were dumped in a garage compound at the back of Northcourt Close, and reported to police, but neighbours say that there have been more than the one incident.

One man who lives in the close said syringes had been found in a children's playground between Northcourt Close and Lawrence Avenue, and that some were even thrown into residents' gardens in the area, one landing on a child's trampoline.

"It was absolutely disgusting," he said.

"I couldn't sleep worrying about it.

"There are lots of kids in this area, I am furious.

"They have been thrown over people's fences and into people's gardens."

A spokeswoman for Arun District Council advised anyone who found needles to be careful.

"Members of the public should not touch or pick up any discarded needles but instead phone Arun Direct Cleansing Dept on 01903 737754."
