UPDATE: Horsham park incident linked to robbery

Police are linking an incident in Horsham park with the robbery of a teenage girl outside a Horsham college.

Officers said a 53-year-old man was approached by another man whilst he was sitting in Horsham park at around 4pm, yesterday afternoon (Monday February 29).

The man demanded the victim hand over his watch.

Police said he refused and the suspect left the area in the direction of Hurst Road.

Half an hour later a 17-year-old girl was pushed to the ground and robbed by a man in Richmond Road, outside the College of Richard Collyer, police said.

The man took her bag and ran off in the direction of Horsham station.

Police stopped a train to look for the suspect but were unable to locate him. Both area were also searched by officers.

Sussex Police are linking the two incidents.

The suspect is described as having tanned skin, in his late teens to early 20s and was wearing a bandana over his face.
