Three months of roadworks outside new John Lewis and Waitrose stores to start in May

Civil engineering contractor Gallagher will be carrying out the new junction and highway improvements in the Bishopric and Albion Way from Monday May 18 to provide access to the new shops.

The works will require 24-hour traffic signals and road narrowing, while the flow of traffic and the work itself will be monitored by West Sussex County Council.

The project includes:

- Narrowing the central reservation of Albion Way south of the junction with the A281 Bishopric, and resurfacing north and southbound.

- Widening the existing footway on the west side of Albion Way.

- Widening of the site access off of the Albion Way roundabout.

- Replacing the existing signals at the junction of Albion Way and A281 Bishopric with new.

Advance notices will be put in place on the surrounding roads to warn motorists about the roadworks a week before they are due to start.

The new stores are due to open in the summer.
