Threats to Worthing Hospital 'not right' says top health MP

SHADOW health minister Anne Milton has visited Worthing Hospital to find out more about the proposals for healthcare in West Sussex.

The Tory MP for Guildford, in Surrey, toured the A&E department.

She also visited St Richard's Hospital in Chichester.

She said: "I'm terribly struck by the very high standard of care, in particular in Worthing, and the very high regard patients have for it.

"I think closing down or reducing services at hospitals that provide excellent services is not right.

"I've travelled from Worthing to Chichester today. It wasn't rush hour and it took me 45 minutes, but its not just about the miles.

"Having family around, particularly for older people, can be crucial to their recovery, which is more difficult when they're in a hospital further away."
