The annual Tulip Festival at the castle offers one of the most impressive displays in the country, helped by the recent sunny weather.

This year it features a range of tulip varieties from Purple Prince to Curly Sue, and from Black Parrot to Orange Emperor.

The festival also boasts a brand new Tulip Garden with areas for visitors to sit and relax or have their photos taken surrounded by beautiful blooms.

This area is home to one of the largest displays of tulips including the beautiful Carnival de Rio, Flaming Flag, blood red Bastogne, crimson streaked Washington and yellow and red Helmar varieties.

However, it has taken the castle’s ground staff months to prepare for the event, with gardeners planting a record-breaking 52,000 bulbs, most of which should bloom by the end of May.

The festival will be running throughout May. For more details see here.
