Small is beautiful at railway exhibition

JOHN Dowling, former deputy editor of the Bexhill Observer, was the special guest at an event celebrating model railways.

The exhibition was held at the St Peter's Community Centre, Old Town, on Saturday, hosted by members and friends of the Bexhill Model Railway Club.

At the show, John expressed a long-time interest in model railways before welcoming all those present and declaring the exhibition open.

The overall number of visitors was up on last year, with traders reporting brisk business with sales.

Bexhill Model Railway Club publicity officer Michael Canning said: "There was a steady stream of visitors throughout the day admiring the layouts on display and partaking of the refreshments provided by the committee members and their wives."

Preparations have started for next years show, which is to be be held in August 2010.
