Singing for Crawley YMCA in Queens Square flash mob

Young members of the National Citizen Service surprised unsuspecting Crawley shoppers last week, when started a flash mob for charity.

They randomly burst into song and dance in Queens Square on Tuesday (August 9) to the Village People floor-filler YMCA. It was all in aid of the town’s YMCA branch.

Participant Molly Newman said: “It’s part of our social action project helping causes in the Crawley areas.

“We chose YMCA because it’s for young people and it’s helping make their lives better and putting them back on track for the future.”

The Foyer in West Green, is home to the Crawley YMCA.

From there, the charity manages housing across the town for 80 young people and supports them in employment and training. The Foyer has facilties including an IT suite, music room, training kitchen and meeting rooms.

The NCS is a national movement which brings together young people of all backgrounds aged 15-17. Mentors helpthem learn new skills for life, increase their confidence and self- awareness.
