Second village Legion threesome boost Poppy Appeal with walk

MEMBERS of the Royal British Legion at Little Common have really got the bit between their teeth over this year's Poppy Appeal.

A second Little Common team has tackled the 11-mile walk from Eastbourne to branch headquarters at Meads Avenue.

The second venture comes hard on the heels of the rain-soak walk undertaken by Poppy Appeal organiser Yvonne Lee, her husband and branch treasurer Mike and colleague Dave Hill. The threesome raised 310 for the village's Poppy Appeal contribution.

Now branch and club president Ernie Eldridge and colleagues Angela and Mick Harmer have also completed the walk.

Ex-Royal Fusilier Ernie, 74, brought the party striding back at the clubhouse this afternoon after a walk of just a little over three hours. It was cold, but they had enjoyed rather drier conditions than their colleagues.Ernie had raised 269 and Angela and Mick 67. The two walks have therefore boosted Little Common's Poppy Appeal effort by 646.
