SCHOOLS PARKING IN SPOTLIGHT

The new school term will bring a renewed push from Seaford Police to encourage drivers to park thoughtfully outside the town's schools.

Sgt David Kemp said: "We received a great deal of support from the public and local schools with our campaign to prevent motorists stopping on zig-zag lines outside the schools.

"The campaign is designed to reduce the likelihood of an accident caused by children being hidden from view by thoughtlessly parked cars.

"With the new term starting I have written to all headteachers encouraging them to reiterate my message to their parents and my officers will be patrolling outside schools to deter errant motorists.

I would remind parents that they risk having their cars seized should they be caught parking or driving in an anti-social manner and the cost to recover their car is over 100.

The safety of children is our prime concern."
