School celebrates award

POLEGATE School has been awarded a Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark.

The award was given in recognition of the school's teaching, learning, literacy and numeracy teaching methods.

Deputy headteacher Claire Martin O'Donoghue said: 'It shows we give essential skills to children to equip them for life.

'I think it's an excellent realisation of how hard the staff and children work in the school.'

The school had to prove itself in several areas including basic skills, good training for staff, different teaching methods and involvement of parents.
