Saxonwood WI

SAXONWOOD WI met in the St Valery Room on Wednesday January 9 at 2pm.

This afternoon meeting was well attended by our members and invited friends from Ashburnham WI, St Helen’s WI and Battle Wives Club. We had come together to be entertained by actor Tony Harris in the guise of King Henry VIII who recalled his life and marriages to his six wives. Tony was most entertaining, as dressed for the part, he recalled his days as Henry at Hampton Court where he posed as the king in front of the many visitors from overseas. He had many a tale to tell and his costume was magnificent. It was a talk well worth hearing and a sight well worth seeing. We were all very much amused. A delicious and copious afternoon tea was served and enjoyed. Thank you to all who attended and to the hostesses who provided the scones, cakes and tea breads which were much appreciated.

Competition winner for a ditty: Madeleine Balisat
