Roads supremo Tex to step down
COUNTY council cabinet member Tex Pemberton is to stand down later this month after more than seven years of looking after roads and transport issues.
He says he will spend his last full year as a county councillor on the backbenches and not seek re-election in May 2009.
"I think this is a good time to hand over the reins," he said. "It is a decision I made about 18 months ago because I feel that it is time to step aside and make way for a fresh approach from a younger member."
