Polling station on the move

A polling station at Crowhurst could be on the move from the village hall to the Parish Room of St George’s Church for the forthcoming general election in May.

Rother councillors heard that the current polling station at the village hall and when the hall was used for polling it was not available for use by the local school for assembly and cooked lunches as well as by local groups.

The Council had recently been made aware of the newly built Parish Room within St. George’s Church that would provide an alternative venue for polling with excellent facilities for voters and staff.

A concern had been raised in relation to disabled access to the building, however, following an on-site visit, it was considered that additional measures such as signage and lighting would enable satisfactory disabled access to be achieved.

The Ward Councillor, Parish Council and party agents had been consulted and all supported the move.

Rother Council officers have recommended the move goes ahead and councilllors will vote on the issue on Monday February 23.
