On Wednesday Mr Johnson reviewed the ‘Better Health for London’ plan put forward by former health minister Lord Ara Darzi.

Among his recommendations was a plan, which could see both Trafalgar and Parliament squares become smoke free zones as well all parks in the city.

National media reported he said it could be considered if “it would actually save lives” while smoking groups have dismissed the idea.

Should the proposal be successful in London, it has been suggested that other local councils could follow London’s approach and propose the idea in their area.

The County Times is asking readers whether they feel smoking should be banned in all parks across the district.
